This kid might be a fast runner, but I can still keep up with her on the bike. We joined my mom and her friend, Sandi, for a ride along the towpath in the Cuyahoga Valley. The trails here stretch from the Akron/Canton area to downtown Cleveland and follow the winding Cuyahoga River and Erie Canal.
This place is a runners’ and cyclists’ paradise with its miles of trails, and is a nice unpaved alternative to the Cleveland Metroparks, a trail system that encircles the city (equally awesome, but paved). We’re talking miles and miles of trails in the metropolitan Cleveland area. What can I say? Cleveland rocks!
My mom is an avid cyclist and competes in races in the Ohio area on her hybrid, which makes it even more challenging to go fast, but it’s perfect for the trails in the Cuyahoga Valley. Let’s just say that I wish I would have had my hybrid for this ride instead of my road bike, but I can only fit so many bikes on the back of my car.
If you don’t have a bike, you can rent one from Century Cycles, another wonderful small bike shop in Peninsula, OH on the towpath. So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and ride. And then get some ice cream when you’re all finished.
